Ol West Bullmastiffs

I purchased my first bullmastiff in 1984 after graduating from Ohio State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology/Immunology. Casie Mae was just a spayed pet female who taught me to love the bullmastiff breed. I became involved in the American bullmastiff association inc. and have been a member, along with my family, since then. I purchased my first show dog (Cody) from Lila Edwards of Ironwood bullmastiffs. Cody (Ch Ironwood’s Buffalo Bill Cody, CD, NA, OFA) would be undefeated in the breed ring, earn a High in Trial obedience title at the American bullmastiff association inc national specialty, and would become the second agility titled bullmastiff missing the title of first by a week!

I raise bullmastiffs under the Ol West Kennel name and have competed in obedience, agility, and conformation. I completed my doctorate in Veterinary Science (Immunology/Infectious Disease) in 1991 and we moved to Seattle Washington where I began working on Diabetes at the University of Washington.

Our kennel along with our co-breeder, Jack Shastid, made breeding history by being the first to import frozen semen from a champion bullmastiff in England to produce a litter out of our girl and Eng Ch Oldwell Saxon of Bournevalley. From this litter we produced Ch Ol West King William, CD, NA. Then repeated the breeding to produce Ch Ol West Geronimo, CD. These two boys would be the beginning of our love affair with producing quality, talented, and loving companions. We have bred many talented bullmastiffs over the years with many becoming triple titlist! We have also had many of our dogs go onto have careers in Search and rescue, and therapy along with many obedience and conformation titlists. We have also has a number of group placing and high ranking dogs nationwide and all have been loving pets and companions. We strive to produce dogs that are both sound in mind and body, loving companions, talented athletes, and long-lived (expected livespan 10+ yrs) family members.

We have also contributed to the world of purebred dogs by holding many national and local board positions, president and vice president positions in various dog clubs, heading the national bullmastiff rescue, and continuing to be the northwest representative for bullmastiff rescue.

Please feel free to contact us to learn more about bullmastiffs and our dogs here at Ol West.
